My journey to becoming a teacher is unconventional. I began my career in business management after obtaining a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Illinois University.
My passion for education began in 2008 when I became a Volunteer Teaching Assistant at Meridian Hills Cooperative Nursery School and Kindergarten. There, I completed training on NAEYC standards. During the school day, I aided in the teaching of Art, Literacy, and Science through play-based activities.

This incredible experience with young learners inspired me to become an Instructional Assistant (IA) for the Carmel Clay School District. I soon realized that my happiest days were spent guiding children through their learning experiences. I also discovered that I have a gift for making connections with students.
It has been my privilege to serve students as a Resource IA, Kindergarten IA, English as a New Language IA, and Substitute Teacher. These diverse teaching experiences informed my decision to obtain an elementary education teaching license through Ball State University.

I student taught West Clay Elementary in 1st Grade in 2019. During the 2020-21 school year, I have covered short-term leave assignments: in-person 3rd grade (2 weeks), virtual 1st grade maternity leave (8 weeks), and virtual 3rd grade (11 weeks). Currently, I am finishing the school year covering a virtual 1st grade maternity leave.
